While writing entries for this blog, I worked in an instructional designer role at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire (UWEC), assisting faculty and instructors with the development of online and hybrid courses, flipped classrooms, and the effective use of the active learning classrooms found on campus.
My own experiences as an educator were often useful as I listened to the needs and wants of the faculty that I worked with, both inside of the classroom and out. As a faculty member, I devoted my free time to tracking down ideas for student engagement, designing classroom activities, and investigating the intersection of technology and effective teaching. Transitioning to the role of an instructional designer allowed me to focus on these important topics full time and act as a resource to others. Many of the posts included in this blog originated from a question or an idea posed by someone on the UWEC campus (thank you!) and rely on the likelihood that someone else may, someday, have a related question or want some more info about a similar idea.
As of April 2015, I have moved on to new opportunities as an instructional designer in the private sector. I will leave up the existing blog entries just in case the are still useful to others!
