About this blog

The primary audience for this blog is expected to include faculty and academic staff at UWEC who are currently - or interested in - teaching in an active learning classroom.  With this in mind, this blog aims to provide useful information, ideas for utilizing the physical setup and/or technology found in the rooms, resources, tips, etc. for those instructors as they continue to improve student learning and engagement. Of course, UWEC is not the only university campus with active learning classrooms, so it is likely that some of these ideas and bits of information may be helpful for others in higher education.

For those focused on active and collaborative learning in higher education, there are a number of useful resources out there.  I regularly refer to the following sites for insights and inspiration:

• This discussion of and strategies for active learning from the Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence at the University of Utah.
• The annotated bibliography of active learning-related literature compiled by the University of Minnesota's Center for Teaching and Learning.
• Info and resources from the Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence and Educational Innovation at Carnegie Mellon - especially the "Design & Teach a Course" series and "Solve a Teaching Problem" tool.
